Incident Overview
A private pilot was landing an airplane when the touchdown airspeed was higher than normal. During the rollout, the pilot applied aileron and rudder inputs to compensate for a crosswind. Shortly after the correction, the airplane swerved to the right. The pilot then applied full left rudder, causing the airplane to swerve to the left. The pilot was unable to correct the directional deviations, and the airplane departed the south side of the runway, subsequently colliding with a taxiway marker.
Pilot Report
The pilot reported that the touchdown airspeed was higher than usual. He described applying aileron and rudder to counteract the crosswind, but after the initial correction, the airplane began to swerve. Despite applying full left rudder, the airplane continued to swerve and ultimately left the runway surface.

The 2153 METAR observation at Troutdale indicated winds from 250 degrees at 8 knots. The crosswind conditions were present at the time of the incident.
