Student Pilot's Aircraft Departs Runway During Landing (N48769)

Incident Overview and Pilot Report A student pilot reported that during the approach to runway 29, the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at an airspeed of 60 knots, with the VASI indicating red-over-white. The pilot stated that touchdown occurred just after the runway numbers. Following touchdown, the aircraft began to veer to the right. The student pilot applied left rudder input, but the aircraft continued to veer and turn to the right. The right main landing gear then lifted off the ground, and the aircraft traveled off the runway, colliding with a snow bank. The aircraft subsequently nosed over. The winds at the time were reported from 090 degrees at five knots.
