What happened
The incident occurred while a scheduled commuter airline flight was conducting its approach for landing. The aircraft was positioned on short final approach to the runway when a large bird collided with the forward fuselage. The impact was severe enough to penetrate the cockpit windshield, creating an opening in the structure.
Despite the breach in the cockpit enclosure, the commercial pilot maintained control of the aircraft. The crew proceeded to execute a landing without further incident. All individuals aboard the aircraft were uninjured following the event.
