Incident Overview
A student pilot experienced a porpoising event during the landing phase on a runway. According to the pilot's account, the airplane began to porpoise just prior to touchdown. After bouncing on the runway, the pilot believed the aircraft was under control as the wheels contacted the pavement. However, the airplane then leaned forward, causing the propeller to strike the ground.
Pilot Actions
Following the propeller strike, the pilot pulled the mixture to idle. The airplane continued for several yards before coming to a stop. The pilot stated that there were no mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane or any of its systems prior to the accident.
Aircraft Condition
The pilot explicitly noted that no pre-existing mechanical issues contributed to the event. The incident involved a student pilot operating the aircraft during a landing attempt.
