Accident Overview
A Cessna 152 was landing on a 3,297-foot-long runway. According to the pilot, the airplane began to porpoise upon touchdown. She was unable to correct the bouncing and decided to abort the landing.
Sequence of Events
During the abort, the pilot noted that she panicked upon seeing trees off the end of the runway. She mistakenly retracted the flaps completely. The airplane climbed slowly and subsequently impacted trees off the left side of the runway. After striking the trees, the airplane nosed over and impacted the ground.
Aircraft Examination
Post-accident examination of the airplane revealed no mechanical malfunctions. The pilot did not report any mechanical issues prior to the accident.
Pilot Experience
The pilot reported 140 hours of total flight experience, which included approximately 120 hours in the same make and model of aircraft.
