Accident Overview
The airplane was substantially damaged during a takeoff accident at a private grass field. The pilot attempted a takeoff to the north from a 1,200-foot-long by 40-foot-wide turf runway. Approximately halfway down the field, after liftoff, the airplane encountered a tailwind. The pilot reported that he felt the engine did not produce enough power to outclimb an approaching power line. The tailwheel subsequently snagged the power line, and the airplane impacted a group of trees.
