What happened
On December 12, 2023, a Cessna 150 J, registration LV-CGM, was conducting a general aviation training flight departing from Coronel Olmedo Aerodrome. While the aircraft was performing maneuvers related to the traffic pattern—specifically during the phase of joining the circuit near the initial approach—the engine suffered a loss of power.
In response to the power loss, the pilot performed an emergency landing in an unprepared field located in the Villa Eucarística neighborhood of Córdoba Capital. Despite the landing in non-runway terrain, there were no injuries to the crew and no fatalities reported. The aircraft sustained no damage during the event.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the circumstances surrounding the engine failure during the transition to the initial approach phase of the training circuit. The JST examined the flight path and the mechanical state of the aircraft at the time of the incident.
