Incident Details
A private pilot reported that during the takeoff roll, the airplane developed a severe nose-wheel shimmy. Following the event, the pilot circled the airport and conducted a stable approach to the runway, touching down near the runway's threshold. During the landing roll, the airplane veered left, departed the runway surface onto grass, and impacted a shallow ditch. The impact caused the nose landing gear to collapse and resulted in structural damage to the firewall.
