Incident
On September 1, 2008, at approximately 1510 UTC, a Beech 1900C aircraft, registration ZS-OLD, operated by Air Serv International, collided with high terrain during its approach to Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The aircraft had departed from Kisangani, DRC, earlier that day.
Aircraft and Occupants
The aircraft was a twin-engine turboprop Beech 1900C, a regional commuter airliner. On board were two pilots and 15 passengers. All 17 occupants sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was destroyed in the impact and subsequent fire.
Investigation
The investigation into the accident is being conducted by the Ministry of Transport of the DRC. The United States Accredited Representative is Dennis Jones of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in Washington, D.C.
