What happened
On April 6, 2009, at 1634 local time, a Piper PA-34-200T, registered as CC-CJK, was on approach to Las Marias Airport (SCVL) in Valdivia, Chile, when the aircraft experienced a loss of control in flight. The aircraft descended rapidly and struck the terrain approximately 10 miles west of the airport.
The accident resulted in 1 fatality and 2 serious injuries among the pilot and two passengers. The flight was being operated under Chilean flight regulations.
