Accident Sequence
The pilot of a tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that during the landing roll, the airplane began to drift to the left. In response, the pilot applied right rudder and right aileron. At that moment, the airplane encountered a gust of wind from the right. As a result, the left wing struck the runway surface, and the airplane departed the runway to the right, eventually coming to rest in soft soil.
Damage
The accident sequence resulted in substantial damage to the lower wing spar of the airplane.

The pilot stated that the airplane and engine experienced no mechanical failures or malfunctions prior to the accident.
