Accident Overview
On September 25, 2009, at approximately 2100 UTC, a Robinson R44 helicopter, registration ZS-RMN, made a hard landing during an autorotative descent near Annerdale, South Africa. The helicopter, operated by National Airways Corporation, was en route from Germiston to Midrand in Gauteng Province. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the flight.
The pilot and passenger were not injured. The helicopter sustained substantial damage. There was no fire.
Investigation
The accident is being investigated by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA). The United States Accredited Representative is Dennis Jones of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in Washington, D.C.
