What happened
On April 26, 2008, at approximately 0753 UTC, a Robinson R44 helicopter, registration ZS-PWG, was performing an aerial observation flight operated by National Airways Corporation. During takeoff from Rand Aerodrome in Germiston, South Africa, the aircraft struck a hangar and collided with the ground.
The accident resulted in 2 fatalities for the pilot and passenger. The helicopter was destroyed following the impact and a subsequent postcrash fire.
