Accident Overview
On October 3, 2009, at approximately 1030 central daylight time, a Beech A36TC, registration XB-CGU, struck terrain near Guanajuato, Mexico, resulting in substantial damage to the aircraft. Visual meteorological conditions were present at the time of the accident. The aircraft was operating as a personal flight and was attempting to return to Guanajuato International Airport (MMLO) when the accident occurred.
Injuries and Damage
The pilot and one passenger sustained fatal injuries, while another passenger suffered serious injuries. The aircraft was substantially damaged upon impact.
Investigation
The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Mexico, conducted by the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC). Technical representatives from the airframe and engine manufacturer have been appointed as technical advisers to support the investigation.
