Accident Overview
On October 21, 2009, a Sudan Airways Boeing 707 cargo flight crashed shortly after departure from Sharjah International Airport, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The aircraft was operating on runway 30 when it went down. The intended destination of the flight was Khartoum, Sudan.
Aircraft and Crew
The aircraft involved was a Boeing 707, registration ST-AKW. All six crew members on board sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was destroyed in the accident.
Investigation
The investigation into the accident is being conducted by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). Under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has assigned an Accredited Representative to assist the investigation, as the country of manufacture and design of the airplane and engines.
