Incident Overview
A pilot flying under visual flight rules from Lafayette, Tennessee, to a private airstrip in Westmoreland, Tennessee, experienced a landing accident upon arrival. The pilot entered a right traffic pattern for runway 19, which was covered with snow and marked by snow drifts. After completing before-landing checks, the pilot initiated the landing.
Accident Sequence
During the landing roll, the pilot failed to maintain visual lookout, resulting in the left main landing gear striking a snow drift. The impact caused the airplane to nosed over and come to rest inverted. The accident resulted in structural damage to the left wing and vertical stabilizer.
Occupant Status
The pilot and one passenger exited the aircraft unassisted and reported no injuries.
