Incident Overview
The pilot reported that the accident flight was his second time flying the specific airplane. During the landing on runway 5, the airplane touched down and then ballooned upward. The pilot applied full power to initiate a go-around, but the airplane subsequently descended and contacted the ground.
Damage Assessment
The impact caused the nose landing gear to collapse, and the engine firewall sustained substantial damage. A Federal Aviation Administration inspector examined the airplane after the accident and found no evidence of any preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures.
