What happened
On August 26, 2010, at 11:09 UTC, a Piper PA-32R-300, registration HB-PRE, crashed near Oey, Gemeinde Saanen, Switzerland. The aircraft, operated by Bodanair AG, was performing a flight from Saanen (LSGK) to Zurich (LSZH) when it impacted terrain. Following the impact, a post-impact fire occurred.
According to statements provided to investigators, the aircraft failed to gain altitude after takeoff and crashed shortly after departure. At the time of the accident, visual meteorological conditions (VMC) were in effect, with winds reported at 260 degrees at 10 knots. The accident resulted in 3 fatal injuries; the pilot and two passengers were killed.
