Accident Details
On December 10, 2010, at approximately 0900 Eastern Standard Time, a helicopter experienced a loss of engine power during takeoff near Pickle Lake, Ontario. The pilot performed an autorotation landing, during which the aircraft sustained substantial damage. The flight had departed Pickle Lake on a local flight at about 0825. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident.
Aircraft and Operator
The helicopter, a Canadian registered Eurocopter AS-350-B2 (registration C-FORS), was operated by Forest Helicopters. The commercial pilot was not injured in the event.
