What happened
On December 10, 2010, at approximately 09:00 eastern standard time, a Eurocopter AS-350-B2, registration C-FORS, experienced a loss of engine power during takeoff near Pickle Lake, Ontario. The aircraft, operated by Forest Helicopters, had departed from Pickle Lake for a local flight at approximately 08:25.
Following the loss of power, the pilot performed an autorotation landing, which resulted in substantial damage to the aircraft. The pilot was not injured during the event. At the time of the accident, weather conditions were characterized by visual meteorological conditions.
