What happened
On February 22, 2011, a Beech 58, registration N12LK, was involved in an accident during the landing phase at Prospect Heights, IL. While attempting to land, the pilot misjudged the aircraft's height above the runway and initiated the flare too early. This resulted in a hard landing, causing the aircraft to slide down the runway before coming to a stop in an upright position.
There were no injuries resulting from the event. The aircraft sustained damage to the fuselage and both wings. The weather at the time was reported as VMC with a visibility of 8 statute miles and winds from 080 degrees at 9 knots.
