Incident Details
On September 10, 2011, at approximately 1842 local time, a Shanghai Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft, registration B-5088, ran off the side of runway 27 at Phuket International Airport (HKT) in Phuket, Thailand. After departing the runway surface, the flight crew managed to turn the aircraft back onto the runway. The aircraft sustained minor damage, and no injuries were reported among passengers or crew.
Investigation
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee (AAIC) of Thailand is investigating the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a U.S. Accredited Representative as the state of manufacture under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13.
