What happened
On May 30, 2012, a Silvair Luscombe 8F, registration N9906C, was involved in an accident during the landing phase at Tok, Alaska. While performing the landing, the pilot applied too much pressure to the brakes. This action caused the aircraft to nose over, leading to substantial damage to the rudder and the vertical stabilizer.
At the time of the accident, weather conditions were VMC with a visibility of 10 statute miles and winds at 000 degrees at 4 knots. There were no injuries resulting from the event.
