What happened
On June 26, 2015, a Silvair Luscombe 8A, registration N28437, was performing a landing in Anacortes, Washington. During the landing roll, the pilot applied excessive braking, which caused the tailwheel-equipped aircraft to nose over. The accident resulted in no injuries, but the empennage of the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
Weather conditions at the time of the event were Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) with a visibility of 10 statute miles and winds from 310 degrees at 11 knots.
