What happened
On June 7, 2012, a Cessna 207A, registration N9874M, was being taxied through an unmarked ramp area toward an adjacent taxiway in Platinum, Alaska. During this ground maneuver, the pilot inadvertently taxied the aircraft into a ditch. The impact caused substantial damage to the right wing of the aircraft. There were no injuries reported in the incident.
Findings
The operator noted that the edges of the ramp and the taxiway were not marked with cones or lights, suggesting that such markings could have prevented the accident.
