Incident Notification
The Mexican civil aviation authority, Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC), has initiated an investigation following an accident involving an AgustaWestland 109SP helicopter on July 28, 2012. The DGAC notified the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the occurrence.
International Collaboration
Under the framework of ICAO Annex 13, the NTSB designated a U.S. Accredited Representative to support the DGAC's probe. The NTSB's involvement stems from its capacity as the State of Manufacturer for the helicopter's engines. The Accredited Representative will facilitate coordination between the two agencies.
Investigative Oversight
The DGAC retains full authority over the investigation and will be the sole source of all official information. No additional specifics regarding the accident, such as location or persons involved, have been disclosed by the DGAC. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided by the Mexican authority.
