Landing Incident
During a landing on a tidal beach, a tailwheel-equipped airplane experienced a directional deviation. As the aircraft rolled out, the right main landing gear encountered soft sand, which caused the nose to pivot to the right. The airplane continued in that direction and subsequently struck a bluff.
Damage
The collision with the bluff resulted in substantial damage to the fuselage. The extent of damage to other components was not specified.
No Mechanical Anomalies
The pilot reported that no mechanical anomalies with the airplane were present that would have precluded normal operation. The event was attributed solely to the landing conditions.
