Incident Overview
On October 9, 2012, at 9:40 am local time, a Beechcraft 1900 aircraft, registration F-GOPE, operated by Hex'Air, experienced an elevator trim system failure after departing from Lyon-Saint Exupery Airport (LFLL) in France. The aircraft was able to return and land safely. A post-flight inspection identified that the elevator trim forward cable had separated near the autopilot servo.
Investigation
The French Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses pour la Sécurité de l’Aviation civile (BEA) is conducting the investigation. As the state of design and manufacture of the airplane, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a U.S. accredited representative to assist the BEA investigation.
Findings
The only finding reported is the separation of the elevator trim forward cable. No other details regarding the cause of the cable separation or any contributing factors have been released.
