Incident Overview
During the landing approach, the pilot of a tundra-tire equipped airplane chose to land on a sloped, grassy area adjacent to the taxiway instead of the intended landing area due to snow covering that area. After touchdown, the airplane began to follow the slope. The pilot then applied the uphill brake, which caused the airplane to ground loop.
Damage
The ground loop resulted in substantial damage to the left wing of the airplane.

The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical anomalies with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
