On November 19, 2012, at approximately 1030 local time, a Cessna R172K, registered as HK4890G, collided with mountainous terrain near Cuchilla La Laja in the municipality of San Francisco, Department of Cundinamarca, Colombia. The aircraft was operating under visual flight rules (VFR) from Girardot/Santiago Vila Airport (SKGI) to Guaymaral Airport (SKGY) in Bogota. Instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) were present at the time.
