Accident Details
On September 21, 2013, at 1730 Universal Coordinated Time (UTC), a Cessna R172K aircraft, registered in Ecuador as HC-BGT, was destroyed in an accident near Morona Santiago, Ecuador. The aircraft was operated by Aerosangay. The flight was originating at the time of the accident.
Injuries and Damage
The pilot sustained serious injuries. The three passengers were fatally injured. The aircraft was destroyed by the impact and subsequent ground collision.
Circumstances
According to the official report released by the government of Ecuador, the accident involved an inflight loss of control and collision with terrain. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Dirección General de Aviación Civil (DGAC) of Ecuador.
