Incident Overview
During a landing on Runway 12, the pilot reported losing directional control of the airplane while on the landing roll. The airplane was forced off the left side of the runway by wind, where it contacted two runway lights as it departed the pavement. After leaving the runway, the airplane struck a runway sign before returning to the runway surface.
Aircraft Damage
The impact caused substantial damage to the elevator and fuselage of the airplane. The pilot confirmed that there were no mechanical failures or malfunctions of the airplane prior to the accident.
Wind Conditions
A weather report from 15 minutes before the accident indicated wind from 150 degrees at 16 knots, gusting to 21 knots.
