Incident Overview
According to statements from flight attendants, the aircraft was climbing to cruise altitude in smooth air. A flight attendant was preparing for meal service and pulled a beverage cart from its stowed position in the aft galley. The cart immediately toppled over, landing on the foot of another flight attendant who was in the area.
Injuries and Response
The injured flight attendant was unable to continue her duties. The flight crew decided to divert to a closer airport, where the flight attendant was transported to a hospital. She was diagnosed with an open fracture of her right foot. The diversion and landing were completed without further incident.
