Accident
On March 20, 2015, about 1805 coordinated universal time, a Cessna TU206G aircraft, Colombian registration HK-2327, was substantially damaged while ditching into the Vaupés River near the Fabio Alberto León Bentley Airport (SKMU), Mitú, Colombia. The flight had departed from SKMU and was destined for San José Cananarí Airport (9AK), Colombia. The flight was conducted under Colombian flight regulations.
According to preliminary information from the Government of Colombia, the flight departed from runway 20. About three minutes after departing, the airplane's engine lost power. The pilot attempted to return to the airport, but was unable, and subsequently performed a landing to the Vaupés River.
Injuries
The pilot and a passenger sustained minor injuries, and two passengers were fatally injured.
Aircraft Damage
The aircraft, a Cessna TU206G, was substantially damaged.
