Incident Overview
On August 8, 2015, at 1708 universal coordinated time, a mid-air collision occurred over the Istra Reservoir in Istra, Russia, involving a Cessna U206F airplane and a Robinson R44 II helicopter. The Cessna, registered as RA-67523, was privately owned. The Robinson, registered as RA-04383, was also privately owned. Both aircraft were maneuvering at the time of the collision.
Impact and Destruction
Following the collision, both aircraft impacted the waters of the Istra Reservoir and were destroyed. The wreckage was not recovered for detailed examination as part of this report.
Occupant Fatalities
The airplane was carrying a pilot and four passengers. The helicopter was carrying a pilot and three passengers. All nine individuals on board both aircraft sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and subsequent impact with the water.
