Accident Details
The pilot of an airplane reported that during a flight, he overflew the intended destination airport and subsequently landed at a nearby airport to refuel. After completing the refueling, the pilot departed for the destination airport and initiated a straight-in approach for the runway.
Landing Incident
Prior to touchdown, the pilot stated that he neglected to extend the landing gear, resulting in a landing with the gear retracted. The accident caused substantial damage to the fuselage supporting structure.
Pre-Accident Conditions
The pilot reported that the landing gear was cycling normally before the accident. He also noted that the gear warning horn was inoperable at the time of the accident.
Mechanical Status
According to the pilot, there were no preimpact mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airframe or engine that would have precluded normal operation.
