A pilot reported that during landing on a wet sod strip in gusty wind, the airplane encountered severe wind from the west, was blown sideways off the runway, and struck a fence, causing substantial damage.

According to the pilot, the airplane was landing on a wet sod strip under gusty wind conditions. During the landing roll, the airplane encountered severe wind from the west. The wind blew the airplane off the runway to the right, moving it sideways. The right wing then impacted a fence-post. As the airplane rolled to a stop, the landing gear and propeller became entangled in the fence wire.
