Incident Overview
A pilot flying a tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that after landing in a field, the aircraft nosed over during the landing roll. The pilot stated that the field contained numerous gopher holes and mounds. The main landing gear encountered a soft spot in the terrain, causing the airplane to nose over.
Damage Assessment
The accident resulted in substantial damage to the airplane. Specifically, the left wing strut, rudder, and horizontal stabilizer were damaged.
Mechanical Status
The pilot reported that there were no preimpact mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airframe or engine that would have precluded normal operation. No other mechanical issues were identified.
