Accident
On October 6, 2016, at approximately 2050 Coordinated Universal Time, an amateur-built Steen Skybolt airplane with registration C-GWBD impacted terrain near Blackfalds, Alberta, Canada, under circumstances that remain unknown. The pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft, sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
Investigation
The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) of Canada has initiated an investigation into the accident. In accordance with international protocols, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the United States, as the state of manufacture of the airplane, has designated a U.S. accredited representative to assist the TSB in its investigation. All inquiries regarding this accident should be directed to the TSB of Canada at their headquarters in Hull, Quebec.
