What happened
On October 2, 2016, a Boeing 737-400 operated by Enter Air was climbing through FL220 after departing from Palma de Mallorca (LEPA). During this phase of flight, the crew observed a LOW OIL PRESSURE warning light on the electrical panel, indicating low oil pressure within the number 1 generator drive.
In accordance with established procedures, the crew executed the appropriate checklist, which involved disconnecting the number 1 generator drive. To maintain electrical stability, the crew started the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and transferred the APU generator to the number 1 generator bus. The remainder of the flight to the destination, Poznań-Ławica (EPPO), proceeded without further incident.
The investigation
Following the landing, the captain recorded the event in the aircraft logbook and notified the Maintenance Control Center (MCC). Maintenance personnel conducted inspections and identified a failure within the Constant Speed Drive (CSD). The CSD unit was subsequently replaced, and the aircraft was returned to service.
Findings
- The incident was caused by a malfunction of the generator CSD.
