What happened
On the date of the incident, a cargo flight designated as AJK206 was performing a scheduled transport service from Lagos to Abuja. The aircraft, operated by a cargo carrier, was carrying a total of five crew members at the time of the event.
As the aircraft type approached Abuja-Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, it touched down on runway 22. During the landing roll, the plane drifted toward the right side of the runway and exited the paved surface. Upon encountering soft terrain, the aircraft suffered the loss of one landing gear. The movement eventually ceased when the plane came to a stop within a ditch.
Findings
There were no fatalities or injuries reported among the five crew members, all of whom successfully evacuated the aircraft. The primary factor in the accident was the excursion from the runway into soft ground.
