What happened
On December 30, 2017, at 16:42 UTC, a mid-air collision occurred near Muchamiel Aerodrome (LEMU) in Alicante, Spain. The two aircraft involved, a Construcciones Aeronauticas C.A.S.A. 1.131 (Bucker BU-131) bearing registration N1950M and a Bell 412SP, registration EC-MMC, were both on final approach for landing on runway 20. Both flights had originated from LEMU and were returning to the airfield.
Following the collision, the N1950M impacted the terrain. The pilot of the Bucker BU-131 sustained 1 fatal injury. The Bell 412SP landed without further incident. The two pilots and eight passengers aboard the Bell 412SP were uninjured. Both aircraft sustained substantial damage.
