Incident Overview
On April 15, 2018, at 1300 UTC, a Cirrus SR-20, registration D-EWTG, and a Dallach D4b Fascination, registration D-MJEK, were involved in a midair collision under unknown circumstances. The event occurred near Adolf Würth Airport (EDTY) in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany. Both aircraft were destroyed, and the pilots—the sole occupants of each airplane—sustained fatal injuries.

The Cirrus SR-20 had departed from Stuttgart Airport (EDDS) in Stuttgart, Germany, with a planned destination of EDTY. The Dallach D4b Fascination originated from Regensburg, Germany, also bound for EDTY.
Investigation
The investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU). As the State of Design under Annex 13 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, the United States has designated an accredited representative to participate in the investigation.
