Following notification from the Government of South Africa, the NTSB appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to support the investigation being conducted by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The NTSB's involvement is based on its role as the State of Manufacturer and Design for the aircraft's engine, in accordance with ICAO Annex 13.
