Incident
On July 12, 2018, at 2359 universal coordinated time, a Bellanca 8KCAB aircraft declared an emergency and subsequently impacted terrain shortly after takeoff from Toronto/Buttonville Airport (CYKZ) in Ontario, Canada.

The aircraft involved was a Bellanca 8KCAB with Canadian registration C-GDLP.
Aftermath
The pilot sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was destroyed by impact forces and a post-impact fire. The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the Canadian government.
