Accident Details
The pilot of a tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that during the landing roll, as soon as the main landing gear touched down, the airplane veered to the left. The pilot attempted to correct the deviation by applying right rudder, but the airplane departed the left side of the runway and entered the grass. The aircraft continued onto the grass and came to rest inverted.
Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the right wing.
Mechanical Condition
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
Weather
Approximately five minutes after the accident, the automated weather observation station located on the airport reported wind from 230 degrees at 5 knots. The airplane had landed on runway 36.
