NTSB Appoints Representative for 2018 Hong Kong Boeing 747 Accident

Notification and Appointment of Representative The Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA) of Hong Kong notified the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of an accident involving a Boeing 747 airplane that occurred on August 30, 2018. In response, the NTSB appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the AAIA's investigation. ## Role Under ICAO Annex 13 The appointment was made under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, with the United States acting as the State of Manufacturer of the airplane. The U.S. Accredited Representative's role is to support the lead investigation conducted by the AAIA of Hong Kong. ## Release of Investigative Information All investigative information related to the accident will be released by the AAIA of Hong Kong. The NTSB's involvement is limited to providing assistance through the appointed representative, in accordance with international aviation safety investigation protocols.
