Accident Details
During the landing sequence, the tailwheel-equipped airplane bounced upon touchdown. The airplane subsequently bounced two additional times and veered left of the runway centerline. In response, the pilot applied back pressure on the control stick to pin the tail down. He then initiated a go-around by applying full throttle, but did not relieve the back pressure on the stick. The airplane pitched up to a very high angle of attack, which led to an aerodynamic stall and a spin. The airplane then impacted the ground.
Pilot Report
According to the pilot, there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the fuselage.
