Accident Overview
On January 25, 2019, a midair collision occurred between a Eurocopter AS350-B3 helicopter and a Jodel D.140E airplane in Italy. The government of Italy has notified the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the accident.
Investigation
In accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, the NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the government of Italy's investigation into the collision. The Accredited Representative will participate in the investigation led by Italian authorities. All investigative information and findings will be released by the government of Italy. The NTSB serves in a supporting role, providing technical assistance as requested under international protocols.
