Accident Description
The pilot of a tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that during the landing rollout, the airplane veered to the right upon touchdown. The pilot attempted to correct the deviation by applying full aft elevator, full right aileron, and left brake. However, the airplane continued to yaw to the right, causing the left main landing gear to collapse. The airplane subsequently came to rest at the right edge of the runway.
Damage
The accident resulted in substantial damage to the left wing and fuselage.
Pilot Report and Weather
The pilot stated that there were no preimpact mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation. At the time of the accident, the automated weather reporting station located on the airport reported wind from 020° at 5 knots. The pilot was landing on runway 35.
