Accident Overview
On an unspecified date, a tailwheel-equipped airplane was involved in an accident during takeoff from a private, grass airstrip measuring 2,400 feet in length. The pilot reported that during the takeoff roll, he became concerned he would not clear wires at the end of the runway and made the decision to abort the takeoff.
Sequence of Events
After aborting, the airplane overran the departure end of the runway, crossed a road, and subsequently went through a barbed wire fence. The airplane then came to rest in an inverted position.
Aircraft Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left wing and the wing lift strut.
Pilot Report and Conditions
The pilot stated that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation. At the time of the accident, the pilot estimated the wind was from 290° at 8 knots. The airplane was departing runway 18.
